TEEN TECH WEEK PIZZA & Wii PARTY
Public libraries nationwide are raising awareness of teens' ethical and safe use of technology during 'Teen Tech Week', March 7 - March 13, 2010. The Murrieta Public Library supports the safe use concept by hosting a pizza party featuring Wii games for teens and sharing information on how to safely surf the Internet with guidelines about Internet ethics. The program is geared to kids in grades 6 through 12. In addition to eating delicious pizza and playing fun Wii games, teens will have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate provided by a local electronics store.
According to the American Library Association, the reason for celebrating Teen Tech Week is, 'Teens, in order to gain the skills necessary to compete in today's job market, need access to digital and online information as well as trained professionals who can help them use these resources effectively, efficiently and ethically. Librarians and educators know this and work with teens on a regular basis to ensure they develop these skills. Teen Tech Week is a chance for libraries to throw open their physical & virtual doors and show their communities all the great things they're doing for teens with technology.'
This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Friends of the Murrieta Library. The Murrieta Public Library is located at Eight Town Square (Adams Avenue and Kalmia Street).
